Google’s Next Billion Users initiative is focused on building a better internet experience for the next wave of web users through platforms, products, and access. This new user base will virtually all be on mobile, making a meaningful app presence of the utmost importance. With conservation of expensive data and storage space as a top priority of this new user base, app publishers trying to reach these markets need to stand out and incentivize users to drive engagement and long-term loyalty. With this in mind, Google created Engagement Rewards, a platform that streamlines the process of motivating users to take certain actions within an app, such as a user booking a trip and receiving rideshare credits in return. The initiative is just beginning to grow, and it benefits app owners, rewards suppliers, and users by providing a way for all parties to win.
