Gijs Verheijke

Gijs (pronounced like “guys”) is a Dutch entrepreneur and sneakerhead since age 10. After starting his career in finance at The Carlyle Group, he moved to Asia in 2015 for Rocket Internet. For the next couple of years he lived in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia and Singapore to launch and scale consumer marketplaces across the region. When hunting down a rare pair of sneakers he discovered how broken online shopping for sneakers is in Southeast Asia. Ox Street was started with the goal to fix this experience.

Gijs is an avid generalist and enthusiastic about almost everything that catches his attention. He has at various moments focused on sales, operations, product, finance and marketing. He is passionate about music, and an amateur DJ, involved with the beginnings of the underground electronic music scene in Yangon.
